Professional Dental Cleaning Discharge Instructions Thank you for choosing Durango Animal Hospital! Below are the take-home instructions regarding the post operative care of your animal. Please follow the doctor’s instructions for a safe, comfortable and uneventful recovery for your pet. Exercise · Upon returning home, avoid excitable behavior and jumping until they have fully recovered from anesthesia. Food · Introduce you pet to food and water slowly, giving small amounts of food and water after returning home today. Anesthesia can cause nausea and/or vomiting it too much food or water is ingested too fast. A regular diet can be offered the day following surgery, unless otherwise directed by the doctor. Monitor · Each animal reacts differently to anesthesia. Some animals will experience mild drowsiness or a slightly depressed appetite for a few days after the procedure. Some coughing is normal due to the placement of the endotracheal tube. If your animal is coughing excessively, please contact us to receive medication which will ease the coughing. Please contact us immediately if any of the following occur: · Loss of appetite for more than 2 days. · Pain · Depression · Weakness · Discharge from eyes, ears, nose · Straining to urinate or defecate · Difficulty breathing · Vomiting · Diarrhea · Facial Swelling |
